Effect of graphene nanoplatelet filling on mechanical properties of natural fiber reinforced polymer composites

Abstract In this study, the mechanical properties of plain woven jute-epoxy composite materials were investigated after filling graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) in different proportions. The time dependent changes viscosity and temperature unfilled epoxy resin, with 0.5, 1 2 wt.-% filled resins observed. Woven jute reinforced unfilled, 0.5 GNPs plates produced by using vacuum assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) at same waiting processing times. Specimens prepared subjected to tensile flexural tests according ASTM D 3039 790 standards, respectively. Images taken evaluated a scanning electron microscope (SEM) areas where damage occurred. It was observed that gap amount between fiber matrix increased interface adhesion decreased as fill composites produced. testing results indicated during loading compared composites.
